The Human Rights Defender, as the National Preventive
Mechanism, attaches great importance to the proper guarantee of the rights of persons
in places of deprivation of liberty.
Representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office,
acting as the National Preventive Mechanism, conducted monitoring visits to
places of deprivation of liberty in Tavush Province.
The purpose was to examine the conditions of detention of
persons deprived of liberty and the possibilities for exercising their rights.
The results of the monitoring visits will be summarized
and analyzed by the Human Rights Defender’s Office and appropriate
recommendations will be addressed to the competent state bodies in order to
help resolve systemic problems and protect human rights.
The protection of human rights in places of deprivation
of liberty is constantly under the direct attention of the Human Rights
Defender.
