On
July 11, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms. Anahit
Manasyan received Ms. Tatevik Aghabekyan, President of the Sexual Assault
Crisis Center.
Welcoming
the guest, Ms. Anahit Manasyan emphasized the importance of cooperation with
civil society, as it helps to identify issues that require urgent solutions and
jointly develop ways to address them.
The
Defender specifically emphasized that the field of combating sexual violence is
one of the priorities of her activities. In this context, areas of cooperation
were discussed, aiming to increase the effectiveness of mechanisms for the
prevention of sexual violence, protection and rehabilitation of individuals
subjected to violence.
Reference
was made to the programs and problems implemented by the center. Ms. Anahit
Manasyan noted that the Defender’s Office will study the issues raised and,
within the framework of its mandate, necessary steps will be taken to address
them.

Tatevik Aghabekyan, in turn, thanked the Human Rights Defender for the warm
reception and effective discussion.
