On
April 17, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Ms. Anahit
Manasyan, received Deputy Head of Cooperation Programmes Division on Justice
and Human Rights of the Council of Europe, Ms. Lilit Daneghyan-Bosler.
The
meeting was also attended by Ms. Tamara Barbakadze, Project Manager of the
“Strengthening Human Rights Safeguards for the Displaced Population in Armenia”
Project at the Council of Europe Office in Armenia, as well as representatives
of the Human Rights Defender’s Office.
Welcoming
the guests, Ms. Anahit Manasyan highly appreciated the effective cooperation
formed with the Council of Europe, emphasizing the important role of the
programs implemented jointly with the organization in the development of the
human rights protection system in Armenia.
The
interlocutors discussed the project “Strengthening human rights safeguards for
the displaced population in Armenia” implemented with the support of the CoE,
the importance of initiatives aimed at developing the capacities of the Human
Rights Defender's Office, initiatives to develop Standard operational
procedures (SOPs), activities implemented in various areas of human rights
protection, new directions for cooperation were outlined.
In
her turn, Ms. Lilit Daneghyan-Bosler emphasized the important mission of the
Human Rights Defender’s Office in the field of human rights protection, noting
that continuous effective cooperation will contribute to overcoming the
challenges in the field.
At
the end of the meeting, the participants highly appreciated the long-term and
effective cooperation between the Human Rights Defender's Office and the
Council of Europe in the field of human rights protection and outlined
directions for expanding cooperation.
