On
April 3, the Human Rights Defender’s Office hotline received a call that masked
individuals had beaten life-sentenced prisoners in the “Nubarashen”
penitentiary institution.
As a
result of monitoring the media and social networks, information was also
received that the convicts were not receiving any medical care.
On
the Defender’s instruction, a rapid response group was sent to the “Nubarashen”
Penitentiary Institution to get acquainted with the details of the issues
raised on the spot and to have a private conversation with the life-sentenced
prisoners.
The
Defender’s Office is also reviewing public materials related to the case.
