The
Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia Ms. Anahit Manasyan delivered
a lecture on March 23 within the framework of the “Alphabet of Human Rights:
Learn, Act, Change” project.
Ms.
Manasyan introduced the role and key activities of the Human Rights Defender’s
Office to about 30 young people aged 14-17 participating in the meeting.
Welcoming
the participants, Ms. Anahit Manasyan shared her professional journey, spoke
about how she applies the practical knowledge and skills gained over the years
in carrying out her mission as Human Rights Defender, especially in crisis
situations. In this context, the Defender specifically emphasized the
importance of proper education on human rights.
“Without
proper education on human rights, there cannot be an effective human rights
protection system. Regardless of the sphere, while conducting activities, I
consider professionalism and integrity to be a priority,” stated Anahit
Manasyan.
During
the Q&A session, students had the opportunity to raise their questions.
Discussions covered topics such as children's rights, human rights protection
in crisis situations, the historical development of human rights doctrine and
several other issues.
The
project is implemented by the Alvan Tsaghik NGO with the support of the Embassy
of the Netherlands.
