From
10 to 14 March, the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, Ms.
Anahit Manasyan, as a member representing Armenia, participated in the 116th
plenary meeting of the Council of Europe's Committee for the Prevention of
Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT) in Strasbourg.
The
programme of periodic visits for 2026 was also adopted.
During
the plenary meeting the CPT adopted the reports on visits to a number of
countries in 2024 and 2025, in particular: Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina,
Denmark – Greenland, France, the Netherlands, Portugal, Romania, Serbia,
Slovenia, Spain - Catalonia.
Let's
remind that, on November 29, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of
Europe elected the Human Rights Defender of the Republic Armenia, Ms. Anahit
Manasyan, as the Armenian member of the European Committee for the Prevention
of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT). The term of
Ms. Manasyan is to December 19, 2027.
