On
the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the formation of the Army, Human Rights
Defender Anahit Manasyan visited military units and combat positions under the
2nd Army Corps of the Ministry of Defense.
The
Defender and the Commander of the Army Corps, Major General Garegin Poghosyan,
discussed various human rights-related issues in the Armed Forces, including
the health conditions of servicemen, their social and living conditions,
discipline in the troops, the officer-psychologist institute, and the protection
of women's rights.
Anahit
Manasyan also visited one of the modular-type military units, where,
accompanied by the Army Corps Commander, senior officers, and representatives
of the Human Rights Defender’s Office, she toured the facilities and assessed
the living conditions of servicemen, the quality of medical services provided,
and food standards.
At
the combat positions, the Defender and representatives of the Human Rights
Defender’s Office familiarized themselves with the conditions of combat duty and
talked with the servicemen.
The
Defender once again emphasized that protecting the rights of servicemen and
their families is one of the key priorities of her work. The existing issues in
the sector are regularly analyzed by the Human Rights Defender’s Office, and
proposals for solutions are submitted to the relevant authorities.
Anahit
Manasyan values the effective cooperation with the Ministry of Defense, through
which various human rights issues raised by servicemen are being addressed.
