On
January 22, a training was held for Human Rights Defender’s Office within the
framework of the project “Strengthening Human Rights Safeguards for the Displaced
Population in Armenia”.
The
training aimed to enhance and strengthen the staff's capacity in presenting Rule
9 submissions with regard to execution of the ECHR judgments.
In
her opening speech, the Secretary General of the Human Rights Defender’s
Office, Nina Pirumyan, emphasized the importance of the effective cooperation
established with the Council of Europe.
Ms.
Pirumyan highlighted that discussions on issues related to Rule 9 submissions
are highly relevant, given the positive practices developed by the Human Rights
Defender of the Republic of Armenia in this area, as well as the necessity of
ensuring their continuity and the Institute's commitment.
Tamara
Barbakadze, the coordinator of the Project “Strengthening human rights
safeguards for the displaced population in Armenia”, also delivered an opening
speech.
The
training was conducted by Nikita Kolomiets, a representative of the Department
for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights.
Participants
were introduced to the process of implementing the ECHR judgments, Armenia's
experience, and the key role of the Human Rights Defender in the execution
process.
Such
events aimed at enhancing the capacities of the Human Rights Defender's Office
are ongoing.
This
event was organized by the Council of Europe’s Division of Co-operation Programmes
under the project “Strengthening Human Rights Safeguards for the Displaced
Population in Armenia”.
