Dear Compatriots,
Beloved
Colleagues,
I
congratulate all of us on the occasion of the Human Rights Day.
Today,
December 10, the world celebrates the International Human Rights Day, which is
based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights adopted by the United
Nations General Assembly in 1948. This day provides an opportunity to once
again emphasize that the human being is the highest value, and his/her dignity
is the inseparable foundation of rights and freedoms.
The
protection of human rights requires daily efforts and commitment. It is the
cornerstone for building a harmonious, tolerant society that respects
rights.
In
this regard, the state has a key role to play: it is obligated to ensure
mechanisms that guarantee the protection of human rights and to consistently
develop them based on the principles of the rule of law and human-centered
values. It is equally important to combine our collective efforts to overcome
the challenges present in the field of human rights protection.
From
the perspective of establishing a proper system for the protection and
promotion of human rights, human rights education also plays a crucial role.
Serious steps must be taken to improve education in this field.
As
the Human Rights Defender, I emphasize not only working for people but also
working with people. I hope that my daily activities, along with those of my
staff, contribute to the protection of the rights of every member of society
and to guaranteeing their right to a dignified life.
Once
again, I congratulate you on this important day, wishing that we may work
together to shape a societal environment built on the rule of law.
