The European Network of
National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI) has reflected on the results of the
re-accreditation of national human rights institutions that are also members of
the European Network, conducted in October 2024 by the United Nations Global
Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI).
The results of the re-accreditation
of the national human rights institutions of Armenia, Denmark, Georgia, and
Greece, as well as the accreditation of the Swedish national human rights
institution to the highest level of credibility and independence, A status,
were presented.
Referring to the activities
of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, special emphasis was placed on the
latter's active involvement in publicly addressing important issues in the
context of human rights protection in Armenia, including issues related to discrimination
and the rights of persons in vulnerable situations.
Recommendations were
submitted in a number of spheres, in particular, regarding amendments to the
Constitutional Law on the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, the term of office
of the Defender, the provision of sufficient financial resources from the state
budget, and other relevant issues.
ENNHRI has provided its
members with dedicated support throughout the process and continues its
collaboration with the members of the Network in implementing the
recommendations made by the Sub-Committee on Accreditation of the Global
Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) within the framework of
the re-accreditation of national human rights institutions.
