On
October 22, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Human Rights
Defender's Office of Armenia and the Danish Institute for Human Rights.
The
memorandum was signed by Anahit Manasyan, the Human Rights Defender of the
Republic of Armenia, and Louise Holck, the Executive Director of the Danish
Institute for Human Rights.
The
signing ceremony was organized within the framework of the two-day high-level
international conference dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the Office of the
Human Rights Defender, titled "Ombuds Institutions and NHRIs amid
Turbulent Times: Resilience and Challenges”.
The
conference brought together heads and representatives of national human rights
institutions and equality bodies from more than 15 Council of Europe member
states.
The
memorandum serves as a framework for cooperation designed to enhance
communication between the Human Rights Defender's Office of Armenia and the
Danish Institute for Human Rights. It aims to facilitate experience exchange
for capacity development and to improve the efforts of both institutions in
promoting and protecting human rights.
During
the signing, Anahit Manasyan, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, highlighted
the importance of collaboration and experience exchange with the Danish
Institute for Human Rights. She noted that this memorandum will facilitate the
implementation of joint programs with increased momentum.
In
her turn, Louise Holck, the Executive Director of the Danish Institute for
Human Rights, emphasized the significance of the memorandum, highlighting its
potential to enhance Armenian-Danish collaboration in human rights protection.
The
priority areas for cooperation will be defined through established procedures.
Each institution will designate responsible individuals to oversee the
implementation of the activities outlined in the memorandum and facilitate
ongoing communication between the two entities.
