The
staff of the RA human rights defender received alerts that the person detained
in the "Nubarashen" penitentiary of the RA Ministry of Justice has
announced an indefinite hunger strike.
In
connection with the above, on the instructions of the Defender, representatives
of the Human Rights Defender conducted an unannounced visit to the penitentiary
institution. Private interviews were conducted with persons deprived of
liberty, including the person on hunger strike. The Defender's representatives
examined the documents related to his health condition.
Based
on the results of the private interview, discussions were also held with the
administration of the penitentiary institution and the medical staff of the
corresponding department of the "Penitentiary Medicine Center" state
non-profit organization. At the end of the visit, the person deprived of his
liberty submitted an application to stop the hunger strike. The latter was
transferred to a separate cell.
