On
May 21 the Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan held a working discussion with
the representatives of the Assyrian community in Armenia.
Representatives
of the National Assembly, state and local self-government bodies, as well as
representatives of the Assyrian community took part in the meeting.
Some
issues related to the protection and promotion of the rights of Assyrians
living in Armenia were discussed.
Anahit
Manasyan emphasized once again that the protection and promotion of the rights
of national minorities is one of the important directions of her work.
It is
extremely important to guarantee the rights of persons belonging to national
minorities to preserve their national and ethnic identity, preserve and develop
their traditions, language, religion and culture.
