We consider it necessary to emphasize the following
regarding the information spread on social platforms and media regarding the
visit of the HRD representative to the injured protest participant.
Armen Baghdasaryan, who participated in the protest and
was injured, was visited by the representative of the Human Rights Defender in
the Kanaker-Zeytun Division of the Yerevan Police Department before being
transferred to the medical center.
The HRD representative had a private conversation with
him, during which he presented the details. The grounds for apprehending him
and the state of ensuring his rights, as well as the documents prepared by the
law enforcement agencies in this regard, were examined.
The Defender's representative also talked with the
doctors who provided emergency medical care to Armen Baghdasaryan and received
information about his health condition.
A meeting was also held with the lawyer providing legal
assistance to the arrested persons.
The results of the visit will be summarized and
corresponding letters will be sent to the competent authorities regarding the
recorded problems.
Taking into account the cooperative environment and
transparent atmosphere of work created by the Human Rights Defender's Office
with mass media representatives, we urge our media partners to refrain from
publishing incomplete information, as well as to follow the principles of
responsible journalism. The Human Rights Defender's Office cooperates with the
