I consider it important that we spend this symbolic day
with you:
on April 7, Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan,
accompanied by her staff, visited the "Abovyan" penitentiary
institution of the Ministry of Justice of RA.
The goal was to congratulate women deprived of liberty
and female employees of the staff of the penitentiary institution on the occasion
of Motherhood and Beauty Day.
The Defender and the representatives were present at the
event organized with the participation of women deprived of liberty in the
penitentiary institution.
Congratulating on the day, Anahit Manasyan stated that
everyone has their own definition of beauty.
"It is important to keep the beauty of life with
joint efforts, noting the above mentioned idea. And this is impossible without
a compassionate and sympathetic environment that takes each other's
characteristics into account. As the Human Rights Defender, I am always ready
to support you in matters related to the protection of your rights. I consider
it important that we spend this symbolic day with you. Once again, I
congratulate all of you on this beautiful day," stated the Defender.
Anahit Manasyan especially emphasized that issues related
to the rights of persons deprived of liberty are in the center of her
attention. Both individual complaints and the issues raised by the results of
monitoring are sent to the competent state bodies with their solution
proposals, a number of issues receive current solutions with the intervention
of the Defender.
Then, Anahit Manasyan and the representatives of the
Defender's Office examined the conditions of detention of women and minors
deprived of their liberty in the penitentiary institution, accompanied by the
head of the institution Heghine Martirosyan, walked around the area, talked
with both the incarcerated persons and the female employees of the institution,
listened to the issues related to human rights and collected the problems.
The Defender paid special attention to the conditions of
detention of women deprived of their liberty with children under 3 years old,
talked with them, discussed issues related to child care.
Within the framework of the visit, the Human Rights
Defender handed over gifts to the women, toys to the children and books to the
boys deprived of their liberty.
