The
Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan presented the issues related to the
violations of fundamental human rights as a result of the blocking of the
Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan to the Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina to the Republic of Armenia Mariano
Vergara.
During
the meeting held today, on August 29, the Defender stated that the fundamental
rights and freedoms of the people of Artsakh are being violated as a result of
Azerbaijan's illegal actions, such as life, security, free movement, food,
mental and physical healthcare, adequate standard of living, the right to
education, as well as the dignity of the residents as an inseparable basis of
human rights and freedoms.
In
the framework of the meeting, Anahit Manasyan specifically referred to the
issues of human rights protection caused by the border security of the Republic
of Armenia, the results of the fact-finding work conducted in Syunik,
Gegharkunik regions and Yeraskh community, noting that the situation of human
rights protection in the border settlements is very concerning as a result of
Azerbaijani aggression.
Ambassador
Mariano Vergara, in his turn, emphasized that he is also following the
situation around Nagorno-Karabakh, adding that the Armenian community of
Argentina is constantly raising its concerns about the issue. The ambassador
also highly appreciated the work carried out by Anahit Manasyan in the field of
