Today,
on July 28, representatives of diplomatic corps and international organizations
accredited in Armenia visited Kornidzor community of Syunik province, the
startingpoint of Lachin corridor, where trucks carrying humanitarian aid have
been standing still for several days.
They
were accompanied by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Vahan Kostanyan and
representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office, Ms. Nina Pirumyan,
SecretaryGeneral of the Defender’s Office, and Ms. Anna Karapetyan, Head of the
International Cooperation Department.They toured the mentioned area, and
monitored the border from a distance.
The
Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Health, and Labor and Social Affairs,
theGovernor of Syunik Province Mr. Robert Ghukasyan, and the representatives of
the Defender’s Office provided general information on the situation to the
representativesof accredited diplomatic representations and international
organizations in Armenia.
Ms.
Anna Karapetyan presented the fact-finding activities conducted by the
HumanRights Defender regarding the situation.
Moreover,
the Representative of the Human Rights Defender noted that the
registeredinformation is regularly presented to international organizations
with a mandate to protect human rights, calling upon them to take the necessary
to steps to end theblockade of the Lachin corridor.
