On September 12, RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan had a meeting with the Head of the EU Delegation in Armenia, Ambassador Piotr Świtalski. The parties discussed the recent human rights developments in Armenia, including the Defender’s legal position and recommendations on activities and guarantees of advocates, in particular the inspection or search when entering the court.
The Ambassador reaffirmed the significant support by EU for the protection of human rights in Armenia. Piotr Świtalski emphasized the activities of the Human Rights Defender in resolving systemic problems related to securing the independence of the judiciary, freedom of assembly, prevention of ill-treatment, and protection of rights of vulnerable groups.
The Defender also raised the importance of the protection of businessmen interests.
