The details of the case of Azerbaijani fake activists presented by the Artsakh Ombudsman on invading the vehicle carrying 19 children from Armenia to Artsakh through the Russian peacekeeping mission on January 17 and subjecting the children to psychological violence were documented by the Human Rights Defender of Armenia and are being presented to the international and regional organizations dealing with children's rights and UN monitoring bodies and special procedures mandate-holders. The case has a number of peculiarities. The children reuniting with their families have already been subjected to mental suffering for more than a month, being separated from their parents and relatives, and deprived of their rights to live in favorable conditions for education and development. During this period, they experienced the consequences of excessive public curiosity, and suffered mentally for the safety of their families living in Artsakh.
Unfortunately, during the transfer, it was not possible to ensure sufficient guarantees for the children's psychological and physical integrity.
The case of Azerbaijani fake activists who unlawfully blocked the humanitarian corridor of Lachin, invading a vehicle carrying children and frightening the children, as a result of which one of the children fainted, is a fact of deliberate targeting of Armenian children based on ethnic hatred. It violates the fundamental international principles and norms of ensuring the best interest of the child without discrimination in conflict and crisis situations.
The actions of the fake activists coordinated by the Azerbaijani authorities in the mentioned case constitute a part of the Azerbaijani state policy of creating an environment of terror and immediate threat to physical integrity in Artsakh.
