The analysis and study of the applications submitted to the Public Council children’s and youth rights adjunct to the Human Rights Defender have been concluded. The selected candidates represent different communities, and different age and social groups.
On October 28, 2022, a meeting with the candidates for the membership of Public Council children’s and youth rights adjunct to the Human Rights Defender have been summarized.
During the meeting, the Human Rights Defender Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan welcomed and congratulated the participants to the meeting, emphasizing their important role: “The aim behind the creation of the Public Council is to ensure the real and meaningful participation of children and the youth in the broadest policy issues related to children's rights” stated the Defender.
The Acting Representative of UNICEF Armenia Ms. Silvia Mestroni welcomed the participants and stated that: “: "We are very happy that the composition of the future Public Council will be inclusive, including children and youth who will represent the most diverse groups of the population. This will reinforce the commitment of the Public Council to give children and the youth the opportunity to raise their voice. UNICEF is committed to assist the effective functioning of the Public Council “.
During the meeting, the representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office presented to the participants the importance of effective communication within the framework of the Public Council, and the possible obstacles to communication and the methods to overcome them, as well as the role of children and the youth in the protection of rights, the principles and importance of their rights to participate and be heard in the decision-making process. The participants raised and discussed several thematic issues and shared their suggestions and observation on the future work of the Public Council.
