At the initiative of the Human Rights Defender of the Republic of Armenia, relevant organizations and individual experts are invited to present applications of interest to join the Defender’s public council on the Protection of Persons with Disabilities.
As a reminder, the Human Rights Defender implements monitoring of the clauses noted in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and also prevents violations of the rights of persons with disabilities and ensures their protection.
For the achievement of this goal, the Defender’s first public council was formed based on the Defender’s decision of June 17, 2020. After the end of the activities of the council, the current council was formed for another year based on the Defender’s decision of August 9, 2021. The council’s activities take place in accordance with the Defender’s decisions regarding membership, tenure and order.
The goal of the council, as an advisory body, is to support the activities of the Defender in the spheres of the protection of the persons with disabilities.
The issues of the council are:
Support the Defender in increasing cooperation with representatives of the civil society that implement activities in the field of the protection of persons with disabilities,
Assist the continued improvement of the protection of persons with disabilities, including raising the effectiveness of research, explorations and analyses, and present suggestions to the Defender based on discoveries in the issues of this field.
Applications can be sent by the following:
Non governmental organizations, which for a minimum of two years, based on their charter and/or order of activities, have operated exclusively or mainly in the field of the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities, in part, services delivered to persons with disabilities, and/or the making and regulating of policies related to this field, and/or
Experts with a minimum field experience of two years who took part in programs related to the protection of the rights of persons with disabilities and other expert work in this field.
To join the council, you must apply to the office of the Human Rights Defender, presenting:
The certificate of registration in a non governmental organization. If applying as an individual expert, send your CV,
The description of the non governmental organization’s activities. If applying as an individual expert, send a description of your expertise, abilities and field of activity,
Information regarding the implemented work and other activities done in this field,
A motivation letter regarding membership in the council.
The organizations and individual experts which take part in the current council can send a letter reiterating their intent instead of presenting the aforementioned documents.
The documents must be presented to the Unit for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities of the Defender’s office: email m_sargsyan@ombuds.am or ombuds@ombuds.am until August 15 of the ongoing year.
