The Human Rights Defender Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan joined the representatives of the Human Rights Defender’s Office on the third day of the monitoring visit to Tavush province.
The Human Rights Defender Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan held a meeting in Ijevan with the Governor of Tavush province Mr. Hayk Ghalumyan. During the meeting, the Governor of the province presented to the Defender the problems faced by the province, as well as the current security and socio-economic issues.
The Human rights Defender also discussed with the Governor of Tavush the issues that were already registered as a result of the monitoring visits in the communities and presented the Defender’s concerns in relation to the access to drinking water in the administrative districts, and the socio-economic, educational, health and safety issues of the residents.
During a meeting in the Gegharkunik regional subdivision of the Office of the Human Rights Defender, the Defender summarized the results of the monitoring visits carried out during the previous two days with the representatives of the Office, as well as discussed the activities that would be conducted.
Headed by the Human Rights Defender, the representatives of the Defender’s Office continued to conduct monitoring visits to the villages of Berkaber, Koti, Barekamavan and Sarighugh of Tavush province, where they held meetings with the heads and residents of the communities, and got acquainted with a number of important issues related to security and socio-economic conditions, access to education, and medical services.
In the Sarighugh community, the Defender participated in the reopening event of the community's kindergarten, which was renovated with the support of young volunteers of the Armenian General Benevolent Union (UGAB Arménie) from France. The Defender thanked the French volunteers for the excellent work done.
During the monitoring visits conducted on July 27, issues related to the access to drinking and irrigation water, gas supply, as well as issues related to the employment and safety of the population, the provision of medical services to the population, the availability of medications, and the procedures for granting disability status were specially emphasized.
Within the competences of the Human Rights Defender, necessary steps were taken to solve certain individual issues on site, and legal counsel was provided to the residents, and the possibilities of realizing their rights were clarified to the residents.
