On July 12, the Human Rights Defender Kristinne Grigoryan, had an online meeting with the National Ombudsman of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Reinier van Zutphen.
During the meeting, the National Ombudsman of the Netherlands, Reinier van Zutphen, presented their mandate and principles of activity, noting the functions related to the examination of applications, complaints, proceedings upon own initiative, as well as the priorities of the institution.
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, Kristinne Grigoryan, presented the priorities of the activities of the Defender's Office, the main tendencies of individual applications and own initiatives, the practice of the opinions submitted by the Office of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia regarding the draft normative legal acts related to human rights and freedoms, accountability mechanisms of the Defender’s Office, as well as the functions mandated by the Optional Protocol to the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The activities carried out by the National Ombudsman of the Netherlands in the fight against discrimination and hate speech and the protection of the rights of whistleblowers, as well as the issues of the efficient methodology of developing reports, were discussed.
Kristinne Grigoryan and Reinier van Zutphen reached an agreement to initiate joint projects in specific directions and, in general, expand cooperation.
