Yesterday, we all uniquely celebrated International Child Protection Day.
The guardians and defenders of children's rights are of course the adults.
Following the results of yesterday's events monitoring, the Human Rights Defender believes it is necessary to remind everyone that the child's right to freedom of speech and opinion should be respected, including conscious and informed participation in political gatherings, as it is part of the child's best interest principle.
The Defender highlights specifically that we should all encourage and create conditions for the child's conscious and meaningful participation in expressing his or her opinion. This means that children's participation in any event or assembly should not be used by adults to express political views.
