On
19.05.2022, the Office of the Human Rights Defender continued the monitoring of
the protests being held in Yerevan, including through the analysis of the
publications of mass media outlets.
The results
of the monitoring today revealed that, in contrast to the previous days, the
cooperation between the participants in the protests and other rallies and the
Police was essentially exemplary.
During the
protests, incidents did not take place in general, while the ones that took
place were settled on site.
The Defender
notes that such effective collaboration is welcomed from the point of view of
ensuring a proper conduct by Police servicemen and of guaranteeing the rights
of persons who are not participating in the protests and rallies.
In other
words, this cooperation is in everyone’s lawful interests.
The Human
Rights Defender continuous to monitor the ongoing process, and will ensure that
the revealed violations will be addressed.
