Today,
the Human Rights Defender, Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan, received Mr. Marc Behrendt,
Director for Europe and Eurasia Programs at Freedom House International Human
Rights Organization.
Ms.
Kristinne Grigoryan welcomed her colleague in the Human Rights Defender's
Office, reflecting on both the challenges of the Defender's mission and the
priorities in the field of human rights protection.
Mr.
Marc Behrendt, in turn, expressed confidence that Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan will
make a significant contribution to the institutional development of the
Defender's Office.
Within
the framework of the priorities outlined by her activity, the Defender
Grigoryan noted that the approaches to the protection of human rights are
priority for the solution of security issues. The Defender also presented the issues
on elimination of the humanitarian consequences of the war, especially the need
to repatriate prisoners of war and missing persons and provide useful and
responsible information to the families of missing persons.
Within
the framework of the priorities of her activity, Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan also referred
to her goal of fighting against hate speech, eliminating all forms of
discrimination and protecting women's rights.
At
the request of Mr. Marc Behrendt, the Defender also reflected on the issues of
the process of exercising the right to freedom of assembly these days, the
powers, toolkit and the work carried out by the Human Rights Defender’s Office
in case of human rights violations.
Summing-up
the meeting, the parties outlined new opportunities for deepening the
cooperation aimed at the protection of human rights.
