On May 4, the
Human Rights Defender, Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan, received a delegation headed by
Mr. Gilbert-Luc Devinaz, Head of the France-Armenia Friendship Group of the
French Senate.
Greeting the
guests, Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan, expressed her gratitude to the French senators
for consistently implementing the decisive pro-Armenian policy.
The Defender Ms. Grigoryan presented to his colleagues
the priorities of the Defender's Office, the measures taken in the fields of
the fight against domestic violence, women's empowerment, equality between
women and men, and the fight against discrimination.
The Defender Ms.
Grigoryan referred to the urgent and absolute need to return Armenian prisoners
of war and civilians held in Azerbaijan to their homeland,
presented the continous examples of the Azerbaijani policy of Armenophobia, the
security and humanitarian issues revealed as a result of the visit to Artsakh
and the border communities of Armenia, presenting the socio- psychological
challenges of the displaced persons and the daily activities of the Defender's
Office to support in resolving them.
The Head of the
France-Armenia Friendship Group of the French Senate, Mr. Gilbert-Luc Devinaz,
congratulated the Defender on his election to such a responsible position and
wished her success and courage in fulfilling his mandate. The members of the
delegation referred questions to the Defender. In particular, they were
interested in the activities carried out by the Defender's Office in the fight
against hate speech, measures aimed at empowering women, and legal proceedings
related to the return of captives held in Azerbaijan. The delegation members referred to and
criticized the Azerbaijani continuous manifestations of hatred towards
Armenians in their speech.
