Today, the
Human Rights Defender Ms. Kristinne Grigoryan participated in the General
Assembly the European Network of National Human Rights Institutions (ENNHRI),
which was held online.
The agenda
of the discussions included a number of issues related to the protection of
human rights in different regions and spheres. In particular, issues related to
situation of migrants in Europe and the guaranteeing of their rights, as well
as activities aimed at assisting national human rights institutions which have
appeared under various threats.
Greeting
the international partners, the Human Rights Defender highly valued the role of
the European Network of Human Rights Institutions in the promotion of human
rights in the region, and in the strengthening of national institutions.
Under the
agenda item “National Human Rights Institutions Under Threat- Ukraine”, the
Defender specifically noted: “I can state from the point of view of the Human
Rights Defender of Armenia, that we well know from our experience the
unspeakable difficulties and challenges that the conflicts and their deplorable
consequences can create for human rights protection institutions. Therefore, I
call on my colleagues from Ukraine and the Russian Federation to make the best
use of the potential of this excellent network as well as the potential of
direct contacts, to best implement their mandates in these difficult times.”
