During
their las visit to Syunik province, the Human Rights Defender Mr. Arman Tatoyan
visited factories employing women.
“We should assist in every possible way the
development of the business capacities of women, since women who have a stable
source of income can, as much as possible, avoid violence nod other forms of
discrimination. The full participation of women in the social-economic life of
the country and the decision-making process is in the interest of the society”-
stated Mr. Arman Tatoyan during the meetings.
In
particular, we visited a textile factory in Tegh village of Tegh community with
the Head of Office of the UN Population Fund Ms. Tsovinar Harutyunayan. The
President of Angel charitable non-governmental organization, Ms. Zhana
Prokopenko stated that her aim is to provide as many jobs as possible for women
living in the village, while investing her knowledge in that field.
In
the small factory equipped with the latest technologies, Towels, linen,
clothes, bags, etc. are sewn.
The
second stop during the visit was the social enterprise of the Women’s
Development Resource Center Foundation, which is an educational center for
women living in difficult situations.
The
director of the center, Ms. Ruzanna Torozyan presented to the Defender the 100%
natural wool collection of Goris Handmade brand: rugs, pillows, blankets and
more than 50 different toy animals.
Ms.
Ruzanna Torozyan noted that among the beneficiaries of the fund are women with
disabilities, as well as women from more than 40 families displaced from
Artsakh. They are studying and receiving a new profession to become competitive
in the labor market (handicrafts, cooking, computer skills, accounting,
hairdressing, etc.).
The
third factory visited by the Human Rights Defender was the Kapan Women's
Resource Center NGO. Accompanied by the Head of the center Ms. Christina
Saghatelyan, Mr. Arman Tatoyan toured the sewing factory, the products of which
are presented in the clothing stores of Syunik province.
The Human Rights Defender expressed readiness
to contribute to the development of women's capacities within their competence,
including through joint events.
