According to the position
of the Human Rights Defender, viewing the issues related to the state border
only from politico-military viewpoint should be stopped. That is a grave
mistake.
In this manner, the state
imposes on itself restrictions, is obliged to it has to apply only to
international politico-military platforms, becomes a victim of geopolitical
processes, and fails to properly protect its population and their rights and
freedoms. It is obvious that the Azerbaijani authorities only benefit from
this.
The actions of removing
the Azerbaijani armed servicemen from the roads in the vicinity of our villages
should be based on the protection of the human rights, the protection of the
rights of the specific border resident; the international mechanisms should be
used on this basis (UN Security Council on the specific issue of borders, UN
Human Rights Council, European Court of Human Rights, etc.)
The facts of the human
rights violations allow to prove that their mere presence is a gross violation
of the rights to life, to free movement and other internationally guaranteed
fundamental rights.
This will enable the
Government and our state to make extensive use of international human rights
mechanisms and to diversify the, and therefor to strengthen the political and
military components.
This will also provide
the opportunity to protect the right to life of our servicemen.
Security doe not only
mean political and military security; but first and foremost, it means the
secure life and rights of the people and border residents.
