On 12 August, the Human
Rights Defender Mr. Arman Tatoyan, the Head of Office of the UN Population Fund
Ms. Tsovinar Harutyunyan and the Head of community of Kapan Mr. Gevorg Parsyan
(Kapan municipality) participated in the events dedicated to the International
Youth Day.
They toured the
exhibition-sale stands in Kapan, and got acquainted with the work of the
community residents- from handmade toys to care items.
The participants
presented their success stories, and the barriers to business development. The opportunities
to encourage and expand local business were discussed as well.
From the works at the
exhibition, the Human Rights Defender Mr. Arman Tatoyan selected the
handicrafts of the students of Kapan Special Educational Complex No. 3,
presented a diploma and a sewing machine to the institution, for the purpose of
more effective work in the best interests of the children.
"Youth is not an
age, but a state of mind. We must create equal opportunities for every child, and
every young person, without discrimination. We must assess their potential and
give everyone the opportunity to acquire skills to lead their own lives"- stated
the Human Rights Defender of Armenia.
According to Mr. Arman
Tatoyan, despite the horrors of war, we must continue to develop our country,
strengthen our statehood, where human rights are respected, and everyone's
dignity is valued.
It should be noted that
this year Kapan community was recognized as the youth capital.
