Today’s
informational statement of the Human Rights Defender on the photographing and distribution
of ballots has been subject to some speculation.
In
order to prevent misunderstandings due to these speculations, we would like to
inform the citizens that this announcement was made because the Human Rights
Defender's Office recorded specific [social media?] publications starting in
the early morning, in which voters took photos and videos of the act of voting,
including placing the ballot in the envelope, which displayed the result of the
vote, and then they published these images.
In
doing so, they took action that made the citizen vulnerable to the impact of
the Criminal Code regarding ballot secrecy.
And
the article of the RA Criminal Code, which is referred to in the previous
statement of the Human Rights Defender, is written as an awareness.
The ombudsman's statements
are also informative and preventive in order to protect citizens from potential
problems.
