On
June 8, members of the working group of the Office of the Human Rights Defender
monitoring the electoral process met with Secretary of the Central Electoral
Commission, Mr. Armen Smbatyan. The complaints addressed to the Human Rights
Defender during the previous elections were discussed, along with potential
solutions, which will facilitate quicker solutions to problems that will arise
during the upcoming elections.
Mr.
Armen Mashinyan, Head of the Department General of the protection of Civil,
Socio-Economic and Cultural Rights at the Office of the Human Rights Defender,
emphasized the importance of collaboration with the Central Electoral
Commission to guarantee the exercise of the citizens’ right to vote.
During
the meeting, Secretary of the CEC Mr. Armen Smbatyan presented the latest
amendments to the electoral legislation, as well as the Commission’s approaches
to various issues concerning the electoral process.
