Today
the Human Rights Defender received the delegation headed by the Armenian
National Committee of Egypt Armen Mazlumyan. The delegation includes a former
member of the Egyptian Parliament, as well as representatives of well-known
media and human right defenders.
Armen
Tatoyan presented the war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani armed forces during
the September-November war in Artsakh.
He
spoke in detail about the urgency of the return of the Armenian captives held
in Azerbaijan, noting that the behavior of Azerbaijani authorities violates
international requirements by presenting the captives as “terrorists” or “saboteurs”.
The
Defender noted that the all the Armenian servicemen and civilians were captured
by the Azerbaijani armed forces during the ongoing conflict. Therefore, all of
them are captives, they should be released immediately, and return to their homeland
without any political or other preconditions.
The
Azerbaijani authorities are artificially protracting and politicizing the
process, grossly violating the rights of the captives and their families,
causing them suffering and causing tension in the society.
Arman
Tatoyan condemns the opening of so called “exhibition-park” in Baku related to
the September-November war of 2020, considering it as an evidence of state-sponsored
Armenophobia and Azerbaijani genocidal policy.
The
Defender drew attention to the fact that the mannequins of Armenian soldiers in
that place are represented in a humiliating state, and the park is also open
for the children.
He
also presented evidences of how Armenophobia and the murder of Armenians are
encouraged by Azerbaijani authorities.
The
members of the delegation praised the work of the Human Rights Defender of
Armenia, emphasizing that they receive reliable information about Armenia from
the Head of the Armenian National Committee of Egypt, including information
about the activities of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia.
The
Human Rights Defender praised the work of Armenian National Committee of Egypt,
especially the consistent work aimed at making Artsakh a part of civilized
world. An agreement was reached with the members of delegation to carry out
joint work on human rights protection.
At
the end of the meeting the Defender answered the questions of the journalists.
