On the occasion of its 115th anniversary, I
warmly congratulate the Armenian General Benevolent Union (AGBU Armenia), which
has played an invaluable role in the life of the entire Armenian people.
For
decades, AGBU's undeniable efforts have been aimed at strengthening and
developing the ties between Armenia, Artsakh, and the Diaspora. In making
Artsakh a part of the civilized world, the Union has carried out and continues
to carry out an enormous work for the protection of the rights of our
compatriots in Artsakh.
The issues of the preservation and the
development of the Armenian identity, religion, culture have always been the
primary focus of the AGBU. Owing to the AGBU Education Programs, thousands of
people were able to receive high quality education and contribute to the
strengthening of the Homeland with their knowledge.
The humanitarian mission carried out by the
union in Artsakh, Armenia, Syria, Lebanon and elsewhere is of undeniable
importance to the lives of our compatriots who are in a desperate situation due
to various disasters and wars.
I wish that the mission of the Armenian
General Benevolent Union from now on is aimed only for sustainable development,
and not to eliminate the consequences of difficult situations.
For more than a century of humanitarian
mission and preservation of the Armenian identity, the Armenian General
Benevolent Union has earned its prominent role in the Armenian history through
its hard work.
I once again congratulate all the employees of
the Armenian General Benevolent Union on being members of a team with a
115-year history.
We note that the AGBU Armenia Office has
always been next to the institution of the Human Rights Defender of Armenia.
Together we have not only implemented educational, awareness-raising programs,
steps to support the socio-economic rights of the people, but also implemented measures
to accurately present the human rights violations in the wake of the
Azerbaijani armed attacks, to the world. The role of the AGBU in analyzing and
presenting to the world the Azerbaijani war crimes and crimes against humanity during
the September-November 2020 war is especially commendable.
