Journalist Ms. Ani Gevorgyan applied
to the Human Rights Defender, informing that she had received threats as a
result of her professional activities and would apply to the Police.
She informed that by targeting her,
a photo of herself and her newborn child was spread on various social media
pages. All these posts contain or are accompanied by insults directed either at
her or her journalistic activities, with a wide range of degrading remarks.
Taking into consideration that the
application is related to the threatening and targeting of the journalist and
her child in connection to her legal professional activity, the Human Rights
Defender will send a letter to the Police to keep the following case under
their attention.
In connection with posting a photo
or video of children on social networks, the Human Rights Defender has continually
urged to remain extremely careful: by doing so, the parents lose the
expectation of privacy for their child's photo or video. It can become the
property of any other person a second after being posted. It is almost
impossible to guess by whom or for what purpose the picture of the child can be
used.
