hosted the pupils of Shevchenko N42. High School in Yerevan
The Human Rights Defender presented to the
children the activities of the Office for the protection of children’s rights,
talked about the children.ombuds.am
website, which gives opportunity to children, teachers and parents to get
acquainted with children’s rights, the rules for safe use of Internet, etc.
Special attention has been paid to the
protection of children’s rights in the digital environment.
The pupils had the opportunity to ask
questions about issues that are important to them to the Defender. They were
especially interested in the topic of the volume of insults and the dangerous
trend of its increase on the Internet. The Defender noted that the insults
spread on the Internet, the deepening of intolerance in public speech and the
spread of tension are highly condemnable and it is important to be always by
the human rights values.
At the end of the meeting Arman Tatoyan urged
the children to study well and gave advice on the safe use of the Internet.
