The Human Rights Defender has published an ad
hoc report on granting privileges to military servicemen and their families.
Among the recommended privileges are, for example:
·
preferential right to retain employment,
·
a mandatory procedure for granting unpaid
leave,
·
a privilege to choose the time of annual
leave,
·
a priority to be included in state employment
programs, etc.
The adoption of the privileges developed by
the Human Rights Defender’s Office for the military servicemen of the armed
forces and other troops, as well as their family members, will be of great
social significance and will increase the reputation of the military service.
The recommended privileges will also increase the status of military servicemen
of both serving and those who has finished the service.
The beneficiaries of the presented
recommendations can be military servicemen of different categories and their
family members, including:
a)
Current or former compulsory and contract
military servicemen, non-commissioned officers, officers and their family
members,
b)
participants of the military operations for
the defense of the Republic of Armenia,
c)
military servicemen who attained disabilities;
their family members and members of the martyred military servicemen families,
d) persons
who participated or currently participate in the military operations for the
defense of the Republic of Armenia, or other countries based on the mutual
military assistance agreements with the state authorized body in the field of
defense, or their family members, etc.
This ad hoc Report becomes even more important,
especially during the post-war period, when protecting, guaranteeing and
strengthening the rights of military servicemen and their family members is a
priority.
The military service should be valued in every
way, while the offered benefits will contribute to making military service more
attractive, including for those that are already in military service and their
families.
The Report has been developed taking into
account the relevant international experience.
