The Azerbaijani media, which have been propagating hatred and
enmity towards Armenians for years, accuse the Republic of Armenia (RA) Human
Rights Defender of spreading Azerophobia by falsifying and manipulating the
Defender's statements. The publications in Azerbaijani media now contain
insults and hate speech against Arman Tatoyan.
One of the Azerbaijani media outlets has published yet another
article about the RA Human Rights Defender, inciting hatred by drawing
political conclusions, for example, "Because the country, whose future
depends on making peace with Azerbaijan, continues to cement its hopelessness
in a deadlock due to the efforts of the “Tatoyans” and their supporters."
The RA Human Rights Defender always publishes concrete evidence,
with specific references, which reflect not only the words of the highest state
bodies, but also the words of sports, cultural and public figures, and also
real users. The assessments of the RA Human Rights Defender on the Azerbaijani
policy of hatred are based on these very factors.
The Azerbaijani media incites new hatred without, of course,
referring to the war and crimes against humanity of the Azerbaijani armed
forces. The tortures, beheadings, shootings and thereafter mockings of Armenian
civilians and servicemen, the bombing of the Stepanakert maternity hospital,
the Ghazanchetsots Cathedral of the Holy Savior in Shushi, despite that it was
widely publicized that children, women and the elderly were sheltered in the
basement of the church, causing destruction, including with prohibited weapons,
artificially delaying the release of prisoners and politicizing their capture
and status, and much more.
More than 100,000 civilians were displaced from their homes
during the war. As a result of the war, about 40,000 people went homeless,
about 30,000 children of school and kindergarten age were deprived of
education, and 12 kindergartens along with 71 schools were damaged or
destroyed. From September 27, 2020 to January 28, 2021, 72 civilians were
killed and 163 civilians were injured.
In the videos depicting tortures, the Azerbaijani military uses
the same words to torture Armenians as it has for years within the framework of
Azerbaijani state policy.
All of the relevant evidence is documented and registered by the
staff of the RA Human Rights Defender and sent to international organizations.
Prevention of war crimes and crimes against humanity by the
Azerbaijani Armed Forces require strict responsibility. Impunity breeds new and
more serious crimes.
Therefore, the RA Human Rights Defender will continue to reveal
all facts of anti-Armenianism and publish them while applying the requisite
legal procedures within its competence, regardless of any pressure.
PS: with this statement, I once again publish only 2 reports of
the Human Rights Defenders of Armenia and Artsakh, which refer to the hate
speech and hostility organized against ethnic Armenians by Azerbaijan as the
impetus of the tortures and inhumane treatment by the Azerbaijani armed forces
on the basis of ethnicity during the war.
