Today,
the Human Rights Defender Mr. Arman Tatoyan received the former Mayor of Lyon
(France), Doctor Georges Képénékian and Head of the Program for Mothers and
Children of the Mérieux Foundation Mr. Khalil Etoui.
During
the meeting the Defender presented the atrocities and torture cases committed
by the Azerbaijani armed forces both against the military servicemen and
civilians in September-November.
According
to the Defender’s position, the targeting of civilian population, the use of
prohibited weapons against them, the involvement of terrorist mercenaries,
Armenophobia, widespread atrocities and inhuman treatment evidences the
Azerbaijani policy to carry out ethnic cleansing in Artsakh by terroristic
methods, which continues to this day.
Mr.
Arman Tatoyan highlighted his conviction that Armenophobia and Armenocide have
been encouraged in Azerbaijan for years and their perpetrators have received
state awards. All these have led the Azerbaijani armed forces to commit the
gross violations of human rights, including inhuman cruelty and atrocities against
Armenians in Artsakh. All this is reflected in the ad hoc reports published by
the Defender.
The
participants of the meeting stressed the importance of cooperation in the field
of human rights protection and reached an agreement for cooperation.
