On December 7th, the Human Rights Defender Mr. Arman Tatoyan
received the Head of the Danish delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the
Council of Europe (PACE), Mr. Lars Aslan Rasmussen.
During the meeting, the gross violations of human rights
committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces during the war, including the
atrocities against military servicemen and civilians were discussed.
“For years, Armenophobia
and Armenocide have been encouraged and their perpetrators have received state
awards. All these have led the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to commit inhuman
cruelty and atrocities against ethnic Armenians”- concluded Mr. Arman Tatoyan.
The Defender informed the Head of the Danish
delegation to PACE that the Azerbaijani authorities were artificially
protracting the process of the return of the Armenian captives, captured
before, during and after the war, and the exchange of the bodies of the
victims.
Mr. Arman Tatoyan provided the evidence of the atrocities
committed by the Azerbaijani side against the ethnic Armenians to Mr. Lars
Aslan Rasmussen, and stressed that the release of the captives, ensuring their
safe return, and the exchange of bodies is an urgent issue, requiring immediate
resolution.
During the meeting, the parties also discussed other issues
related to the protection of human rights.
