Today, the Prosecutor General's Office of Azerbaijan stated that
most of the videos attributed to the Azerbaijani Armed Forces for insulting the
bodies of Armenian servicemen, torturing and inhumanely capturing people are
false. Once again, it has been announced that criminal proceedings have been
launched and the guilty sides will be brought to justice.
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia announces that most of the
videos about torture and inhuman treatment are real. They Armenian and Artsakh
sides have submitted and continue to submit to international bodies as
authorized in the form of evidence.
And now, the responsibility of the guilty sides
The Human Rights Defender of Armenia also declares that these
atrocities, tortures and inhuman treatment are war crimes.
They were not committed by individual soldiers of Azerbaijan independently
from each other, but this all is an integral part of Azerbaijan's organized
policy of ethnic cleansing and genocide in Artsakh; this is a result of hatred
towards Armenians accumulated in Azerbaijan for years and coordinated with
state support.
Moreover, these atrocities were spread with the intention of
causing mental suffering to the Armenian society, causing tension and thus
gaining praise and seeming "heroism" in their own society.
Therefore, the
responsibility is not only on the soldiers, the Azerbaijani authorities are
directly responsible for these tortures and inhuman treatment.
