Yesterday, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia Mr. Arman
Tatoyan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the
Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia Mr. Sergey Kopirkin.
During the meeting, Arman Tatoyan highlighted the effective
cooperation of the Human Rights Defender with the Russian Embassy in Armenia, expressed
his appreciation for the joint work with regard to the rapid exchange of
information aimed at the protection of the rights of our compatriots in Russia.
The Defender presented to the Ambassador the atrocities and
torture cases committed by the Azerbaijani armed forces during
September-November, as well as the coordinated hatred towards Armenians that supported
by the state in Azerbaijan.
Arman Tatoyan presented to the Ambassador Kopirkin the results
of joint work with his Russian counterpart during the novel coronavirus
(COVID-19) pandemic, when in the condition of closed borders and absence of
flights it was possible to unite Armenian families, return children to their
parents, assist in traveling abroad for receiving treatment of complex health issues,
as well as record other successful and unique cases.
As a result of a high-level relations with the Russian
Commissioner for Human Rights, a joint reception of our compatriots in Russia
was held in Moscow with the participation of the Armenian Ambassador to Russia
and the President of the Union of Armenians of Russia. This initiative was
aimed at protecting the rights of our compatriots working in Russia, and since
then it has become an international best practice and exemplary at
international platforms.
The Russian Ambassador emphasized the effective cooperation with
the Human Rights Defender of Armenia and stressed the need to continue it.
The parties agreed to continue cooperation and exchange of
information aimed at protection of human rights.
