The
Azerbaijani armed forces have committed war crimes in Artsakh. They have
committed crimes against humanity against the civilian population of Artsakh
and Armenia. They have destroyed peaceful villages and cities, kindergartens
and schools, religious and cultural sites, using prohibited weapons.
Our
compatriots were subjected to torture and cruel treatment only because they are
ethnic Armenians. And all of this was done with exceptional cynicism and
terroristic methods, with the gross violations of the rights to life, health,
dignity, property and numerous other rights. This policy of ethnic cleansing
and genocide was accompanied by a coordinated propaganda of deep hatred and
animosity towards ethnic Armenians.
With
unceasing effort and work, we have a duty to bring the issues of responsibility
for these atrocities to an end, each one of us with his/her own work.
Even
now all the activities are being undertaken within the legal mandate of the
Human Rights Defender to the maximum extent possible.
