Arman
Tatoyan, the Human Rights Defender of Armenia, hosted today H.E. Nico
Schermers, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of
the Netherlands to Armenia.
During
the meeting the Ombudsman presented facts about the atrocities and malicious
acts by the Azeri armed forces against the peaceful population, including the
use of prohibited cluster and phosphorous munitions against the civilians and
large scale destruction of civilian infrastructure.
Arman
Tatoyan emphasized that the Azeri attacks against the civilian population in
Artsakh and Armenia come amid enormous hate speech against the ethnic
Armenians, also indicating that the hate-based actions against the ethnic
Armenians are taking place in several countries.
“Targeting
civilian population, the use of prohibited munitions against them, the
involvement of mercenary terrorists, propagating hatred towards the Armenians
and the atrocities and inhuman treatment by the Azeri armed forces all witness
that the assigned mission is to carry out ethnic cleansings in Artsakh
deploying terrorist methods,” – stated the Ombudsman.”
The
Ombudsman informed the Ambassador that 3 civilians were killed and 4 others injured
as well as houses damaged in Armenia.
The
data provided by the Human Rights Defender of Artsakh show that at least 46
civilians were killed and more than 144 injured in Artsakh.
Participants
underscored the importance of cooperation in protecting human rights and
reached new agreements for cooperation.
