Today, the Defender's representatives
had private interviews with 7 people subjected to an administrative arrest
during the rapid response visit to the Vayq Police Department.
At the police department, the documents
related to the apprehended people, the grounds for their apprehension, state of
ensuring their rights have been examined, including the report of Ms. Ani
Khachatryan, a member of "Armenian Environmental Front" initiative,
on the use of disproportional force by police officers. Additional steps will
be taken based on the results of the visit.
In addition, the Defender's
representatives contacted the parent of the citizen who suffered a leg injury
in the mine area, discussed issues related to his health, and provided the
necessary legal guidance.
At the initiative of the Human Rights
Defender, the rapid response group has continued the monitoring of the
developments around the Amulsar mine since early this morning.
The Defender's representatives, during
the two days in Jermuk, had meetings and discussions with both representatives
of state and local self-government bodies, community members, as well as
activists against the exploitation of the mine, including civil society
representatives.
Within his mandate, the Human Rights
Defender continues to keep the developments around the Amulsar mine at the
center of his attention.
