Upon receiving alerting calls on the
apprehension of citizens in Amulsar, a rapid response group was dispatched to
Jermuk city at the Human Rights Defender’s instruction.
During the visit, the Defender's
representatives will have private interviews with the apprehended people, get
acquainted with the situation on ensuring their rights and the grounds for
their apprehension.
The Defender has been following the
developments around the Amulsar mine since early morning. The Defender's
representatives are in constant contact with the Police, Jermuk Municipality,
and other local government bodies, as well as monitoring the protests.
The Human Rights Defender, within his
mandate, continues to keep the developments around the Amulsar mine at the
center of his attention.
