Today, at the Human
Rights Defender’s instruction, rapid response groups visited Police units of
Artashat, Masis and Ararat concerning the apprehension of protestors near Khor
Virap. At the same time, a second visit was made to Masis Police unit in
connection with the second administrative arrest of a number of people. The Defender
also received complaints from advocates of some of the apprehended persons.
In the mentioned Police
units, the rapid response groups of the Defender's Office had private
interviews with 53 people, examined the relevant documents. During the day, 4
working groups from the Human Rights Defender's Office worked in connection
with the protest.
This evening, the work
of the rapid response groups of the Human Rights Defender's Office was summarized,
the results will be sent to the Police with an official letter.
The letter will raise
issues related to the grounds for administrative detention, informing about
reasons for apprehension, presenting rights to the apprehended persons, documents
prepared at the Police with regard to apprehension, etc.
