In order
to form a clear understanding about the principles of law enforcement's
activities, their policy on fight against hate speech and to take the
appropriate preventive steps, today, I will address relevant official letters
to the law enforcement bodies, including about the post related to Ms. Tatevik
Revazyan and her newborn baby.
For
clarity, I stress that imposing liability on individuals, including use of
coercive measures, as well as protection of officials from citizens or
protecting citizens in private relations are not within my competence.
The aim of my yesterday’s statement was to emphasize once again
the absolute unacceptability of hate speech. Such vicious acts should be
eradicated. However, they are widespread resulting in dangerous consequences,
multiplying insult and hatred.
