The
representative of the Human Rights Defender contacted the administration of the
Prison Hospital penitentiary institution to clarify the information published
on media with regard to the hunger-strike in the penitentiary institution.
According
to the administration, at the moment they received 6 applications on starting
hunger-strike (5 detained and one convicted person). According to the
information provided, the persons on hunger-strike are under the medical supervision.
The
issue is under the Human Rights Defender’s primary attention. Necessary measures will be undertaken within
the Defender's mandate to ensure the rights of these persons.
